Candy AI review: text and tokens

Official sources checkedPolicy conflict explainedNo account test

Candy AI is easier to budget for text than for frequent media. Paid text chat is listed as unlimited, while images, videos and voice features use a separate token balance. I would choose a billing term only after checking the upfront charge and monthly refill—and I would not count on recovering leftover tokens after cancellation, because Candy’s official sources disagree.

This is a November 3, 2026 plans-and-policy review. We verified official pages through web retrieval; the interactive product browser check failed. We did not subscribe, generate content or measure token charges.

Unlimited text does not mean unlimited media

Candy’s additional-tokens help article says regular paid chatting does not consume tokens and remains accessible without buying more. Image and video generation, voice capabilities and private-content packs can require a balance.

That gives a mostly-text user a useful decision rule: a token top-up prompt does not necessarily mean you must pay again to continue ordinary chat. Check which feature triggered it before purchasing more credits. We have not tested a zero-balance account.

The token guide lists several token-funded activities without establishing one universal cost per image, video or call. I would budget from the charge displayed for the exact action, rather than convert 100 tokens into a guaranteed number of outputs.

Annual payment still brings tokens month by month

The paid-user guide distinguishes the billing calendar from token delivery. For its base offer, yearly subscribers pay annually but receive 100 tokens each month on their subscription anniversary day.

An annual purchase is not a documented 1,200-token balance available on day one. For a media-heavy weekend, the lower monthly-equivalent subscription price may not solve the immediate token limit.

For example, a subscription beginning on November 3 would follow a monthly anniversary schedule under that guide. This illustrates the documented rule; it is not an account we created or a refill we observed. Check your own account date and offer, especially if it is a different tier or promotion.

Compare the billed amount with the headline rate

The public English subscription page published these offers when checked November 3. These are reference prices in the displayed dollar symbol, not verified checkout totals or a promise that another region or session gets the same promotion.

Base offer: unlimited text and 100 tokens per month. Local taxes may be additional; verify the selected offer before payment.
Billing termPublished amount billedWhat to notice
1 month$9.99 for the first monthThen $13.99 per month; the introductory rate is temporary.
3 months$26.97 quarterly$8.99/month equivalent, with a three-month commitment.
12 months$47.88 annually$3.99/month equivalent, paid annually; base tokens still arrive monthly.

The published payment copy says these offers renew automatically. We could read that copy but could not verify the interactive payment summary, currency designation, tax, eligibility or an actual charge. Save the selected total and renewal terms before committing.

Unused tokens after cancellation: the official answers conflict

Two current official pages give different instructions. Both were opened and checked for this review; their own document dates are preserved below.

Terms: expire after paid access ends

The English Terms, revised September 22, 2026, section 10.2, say remaining tokens become unusable at the end of the cancelled subscription's paid period and do not carry into a new subscription.

Help: retained for a later subscription

The official help answer updated August 25, 2026 says the balance remains hidden on Free and can be used again after returning to Premium.

Do not buy a large balance on the assumption that it survives a subscription gap. We have not tested either outcome. Before relying on recovery, ask support to confirm in writing whether your included and separately purchased tokens survive the end of paid access, and for how long. Keep that response with the purchase record.

Turn off proactive media if you want a text session

Candy’s August 25 help guide says some characters in Realistic mode send media proactively. Its documented control is the icon beside the gift icon at the bottom of the chat; green toggles turn gray when disabled.

That is a useful setting to inspect before a text-only session. We did not operate it, verify its defaults or determine which media events incur charges. It is not evidence that every unsolicited item automatically debits tokens.

Cancel renewal and request a refund separately

The October 13 refund help article says cancellation alone does not submit a refund request. Its general subscription conditions include requesting within 24 hours, no more than 20 tokens used and direct card payment.

The Terms, section 10.4.3, separately describe an EU/UK initial-purchase withdrawal period of 14 days with a deduction for consumed service; it does not cover renewals. These are published conditions, not a refund we obtained or an assurance that a request will be accepted.

Next step: confirm the spending rule before the long commitment

If you mainly want text, check the free sample and then the shortest paid term you are comfortable with. If you mainly want media, check the exact action’s token cost and the monthly refill before choosing an annual offer. Get the unresolved token-retention answer in writing before stockpiling credits.

For a conversation-focused comparison, read the existing Kindroid and Nomi reviews. This update does not rank their reply quality against Candy or claim a shared-prompt test.
