Fix the layer that is wrong before rewriting the whole companion
Suppose a companion describes the right appearance in chat but looks different in a selfie. Treating that as “bad memory” sends you toward the wrong fix. Use this map to decide where to look first.
The conversation gets a detail wrong

V5 offers a likeness tradeoff, not a “maximum quality” switch

- Riva Photorealistic: Nomi’s choice for detail and realism, with possible likeness drift.

Group images require the same image version for all Nomis. V5 group selfies use their default anchors; group art allows anchor selection. Group image rules.
Keep a small visual reference sheet outside the chat. Mark the few details you actually care about, such as face shape and hair, then judge them separately from lighting or background. An attractive new style can conceal an identity change.
A longer V3 clip can make a simple action look slower
The September 30, 2026 V3 guide supports 5-, 10- and 15-second SD/HD clips. Use the art palette to select an album image, or expand it and choose Turn Image into Video.
Nomi warns that too little action for the duration can produce slow motion; small or unclear faces in the starting still can cause drift. Check both before paying for HD.
Use positive instructions: “the camera remains still,” rather than “no camera movement.” Videos use daily requests first, then credits. Prompting and request rules.
We have not verified current V3 unit rates. Check the charge for your duration and mode before submitting, and count discarded takes in your budget.

With an account eligible for video creation, use an original, fully clothed fictional adult character. Keep a clear portrait you already accept as the reference, then try a short clip with this brief:
She turns toward the camera, lifts her mug in a brief greeting, then lowers it. The camera remains still.
- Record the starting image, image version, selected anchor, clip mode, duration and displayed charge.
- Compare the face at the start, middle and end; check the hand and mug separately.
- If the result fails, change one factor and record the new charge. Do not replace the reference and lengthen the clip in the same comparison.
A good result would support this brief and setup. It would not prove reliable identity under profile views, complex interactions or every other setting. The mug exercise is an editorial test plan, not a published Nomi benchmark.
A Mind Map shows part of the memory system, not everything it knows
A missing map entry does not establish that Nomi forgot the fact. Mind Map 2.0 is a high-level overview alongside detailed memories. Its searchable table lets you find and edit entries; each one-to-one conversation and group room has its own map. Mind Map 2.0 guide.
The official wiki says an initial map can take roughly 500 messages to begin forming, and new information may need 50–150+ messages to reach long-term memory first. These are approximate processes, not promised deadlines. Edited entries can keep updating. How maps form and change.
Editing or deleting a map summary is not the same as making the companion unlearn an event. The underlying memories are separate and cannot be directly edited by users. Backstory+ is the place for explicit, stable context; map entries are recalled dynamically. Map entries versus memories.
For a continuing fictional story, I would keep a short canon note and record contradictions as they appear. A correct answer immediately after you supplied a fact can come from recent context. A map screenshot or a single clever reply is too weak a basis for a long-term memory verdict.
If inspectable memory controls are your deciding factor, compare the existing Kindroid review. Compare which corrections you can make, rather than treating either vendor’s “memory” label as a reliability score.
Downgrading keeps one-to-one chat today, but content is not guaranteed
Nomi’s current policy says a downgrade to free keeps existing Nomis and one-to-one conversations available. Paid group chat, video creation, voice messaging and calls become read-only. Existing media is currently retained, but Nomi does not guarantee content preservation after downgrading. Refunds for dissatisfaction or unused time are generally excluded. Cancel through the purchase platform. On web, the documented route is Profile → Subscription → Manage Subscription → Cancel Subscription. Paid benefits continue until the current period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel renewal. Cancellation instructions.
Use fictional details for the trial
Nomi’s April 27, 2026 privacy policy asks users to avoid identifying personal information. It collects supplied chats and customizations and allows uses including improving the service.
Account deletion has exceptions for training and communications archives and legal needs. The policy says retained training-archive information is no longer attributable to you after deletion. This is not an unconditional erasure promise. Privacy and retention terms.
